I read this and was affected to make this poll to see where everyone's at.
Matt Ryan for MVP? ajc.com (http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/falcons/stories/2008/12/15/falcons_ryan_mvp.html - broken link) (there are more choices). Of course I think Ryan should get but I'd like to hear from others.

This is going to be one of the tightest MVP races ever I think. It was a hard choice but I chose Adrian Peterson. He's the best running back in the league and has helped the Vikings to the top of the NFC North. I think the Vikings have been playing well enough for him to be considered MVP. Drew Brees will be the Offensive Player of the Year but the Saints aren't a good enough team for him to be considered the MVP. The last player ever to get the MVP award whose team did not make the playoffs was O.J. Simpson when he ran for the first ever 2,000-yard season in 1973, 35 years ago.

Because there's no clear-cut offensive winner this year, I think that James Harrison has a better shot than any defensive player has in years to win the award. Matt Ryan has been very good, but Peyton Manning has a better shot among QBs simply because he has led the Colts to contender status again with another great season and little other offensive talent. Micheal Turner could be considered but Adrian Peterson has done more with less offensive talent surrounding him. I don't think either Ryan or Turner will win mainly because both of them have been so equally responsible in raising the Falcons to greatness, so therefore neither of them stands out.

Kurt Warner's case has been hurt by a late-season Cardinals collapse but he's still certainly a contender. I think if Cassel can lead the Patriots to the playoffs then he will be considered as well.

My top 5 MVP candidates:
1) Adrian Peterson
2) Kurt Warner
3) James Harrison
4) Peyton Manning
5) Tony Romo (changed from Jay Cutler; Tony Romo is just better and look at how the Cowboys almost self-destructed when he was out for 3 games)

I voted for Peyton Manning because I am pretty sure the first tie-breaker is biggest forehead followed by most horseshoes on one's uniform.

Don't call him "Purple Jesus". I heard he hates that nickname. And I don't think Childress is worried about his job.

It's got to be Adrian Peterson! That cat is a STUD! He's already right around 1500 yards with 2 games left with a soft passing game. Teams stack the box and he still runs wild, this kid is a STUD!! That's my MVP. I'd say Matt Ryan deserves it too but he'll probably get Rookie of the year.

I'm sure they'll give it to the media's little darling Brett ( I can do no wrong but yet I suck) Favre. It makes sense. Any time a team doesn't want the ball in your hands in a tight game because of fear you might throw it away, that player surely deserves the award. 20-17 TD to INT differential...............yeah, he's GREAT!
