Baltimore Colt fan even before Unitas, 1953 to be exact. Biggest disappointments involve Don Shula.
1) The Super Bowl III loss to Namath's Jets, obviously.
2) NFL Championship 1964 loss to Jim Brown's Browns 27-0.
(In both games, Colts were heavily favored.)
3) Special tie-breaker playoff loss to Lombardi's Pack in '65 when all of our QBs were hurt and Tom Matte played emergency QB.
4) Another special tie-breaker playoff loss to the Rams after the '67 Colts compiled something like an 11-1-2 record.
Yeah, Shula compiled a great won-loss record in regular season games but in the playoffs ...... To be fair though, we actually won that '65 playoff but the Pack was credited with a game-ending field goal that was wide of the goal posts. I think that Don Chandler was the kicker. So I can't blame Shula for that one.

I see six of my Baltimore Colts made the NFL's list of 100 Greatest.
- Johnny Unitas came in at 9th position,
- Gino Marchetti at 35th position,
- Jim Parker at 49th position,
- John Mackey at 51st,
- Raymond Berry at 58th,
- Ted Hendricks at 71st.
No sense arguing over rankings or omissions as these lists are way too subjective. Even if it were 500 greatest there'd be good guys left out.

You sound like a great fan. I have loved the Colts since '58. Since they are your disappointments, they can't be wrong. But, in 1967, that loss in was the last regular season game. That game was one of the reasons the NFL went to wild-card games.
That SUper Bowl III was on TV last week. I was glad to see that they had the entire broadcast saved, as it is my understanding that most of Super Bowl 1 (THE NFL AFL Championship game that the Pack won) has been lost as the tapes were reused. Guess at the end of the day on January 15 a 1967, some TV execs decided that the show was not worth saving. Of course tapes cost more at that time compared to now. Also, there were 32000 empty seats. Compare that three years later, a sell out crowd to see the Jets and Colts, broadcast via satellite to overseas areas, and TV attendance going up......
I still have this poster framed in my fun room (man cave?)
I was a Dolphins fan, but I liked the simplicity and design of the poster. I wish I had kept all of the things I had, but alas, I complain about having too may goods already
Alas, it will not be there much longer. My Old Lady is slowly taking over the room for her sewing and craft center, and does not want the over abundance of sports memorabilia on the walls.
Here are all the posters from that year. In my opinion now, and at the time, most are gaudy and the COlts poster stands out for the simplicity....kind of like the uniform http://nflfootballjournal.blogspot.c...er-series.html
PS I also have a UNITAS 19 vintage uniform to wear on occasion
