My father (an original New York Titans fan) always said that the mark of a good team is that they'll make adjustments at halftime. Opening Day, 2011...Gang Green rudely interrupts the Tony Romo Love-Fest and wins the game.
My Dad would have been smiling from ear to ear if he was here to watch that.

You notice how this team thread seems to get less response than most others. As a lifelong Jets fan, nobody has to explain this phenomenon to me.
But they do seem to make it hard to bet against them, don't they? Currently 8-5 and getting help from other teams at a rate you'd have to call spooky.

Big article in the Daily News yesterday about what is apparently a team revolt concerning Mark Sanchez. Doesn't look like very many Jets think much of him--it will be interesting to see if this influences the franchise's decisions in the coming months. (Apparently, there's a movement afoot to sign Peyton Manning, on the theory that a healthy 36-year-old Manning is much likelier to steer Gang Green towards a Super Bowl than a youthful but not very well respected Sanchez).

Fred314X is right. There have been several reports of internal problems in the organization reported by ESPN and the NFL Channel.
The Peyton Manning scenario Fred is mentioning here is kind of interesting, to tell you the truth. The closer we get to next April's NFL draft this situation with Peyton Manning is really going to get attention.

The Manning to NYJ is interesting, but I dont think it will happen...Im pretty sure that Manning doesnt want to play for the dysfunctional mess that is the New York Jets these days.

No way Peyton would want to 1) Play in the same division as Tom Brady and 2) Play in the same city as his brother. I could see the Cowboys making a big play for Peyton if he becomes available, Dallas just seems to have soured on Tony Romo, and Jerry has deep pockets..

I hope everyone is paying attention to what is happening with Alex "He's a Bust" Smith, in San Fran!
Everyone wrote him off as a bust! Then look what happens.....he gets the right coach. Jim Harbaugh is a mentor!! Rex Ryan is an over-bearing buffoon who shoots off his mouth! And now his team has taken on the persona and behavior that he gives off.
Now Mark Sanchez isn't developing. He's regressing...just like Alex Smith did! Sexy Rexy is not what Sanchez needs right now!
The Jets are undisciplined in their behavior, as well. Fights....publicly piling on a teammate. I saw this coming.
Peyton would have no parts of a Rex Ryan. That's not his way.
Rex needs to go! It was cute for sound bites. But it's over!
As I heard one Ex-NFL player say....."I can play for a Rex Ryan for 2 years. But I can play for Tony Dungy for a life time."

Alex Smith is the perfect example of why you do not give up on a young QB after only 3 seasons; another perfect example is Eli Manning. A lot of what your hearing about Sanchez was said about Eli, in fact Sanchez numbers in year 3 are very comparable to Eli's stats in his 3rd year, But I don't put it all on Rex, I think Schotty was a terrible OC/playcaller, and I'm getting the feeling that Woody Johnson is more concerned with selling PSL's and signing big names, than actually developing a football team.

Sorry....the buck stops with the head coach. Even the team is taking after him. That makes for a road to destuction. Mark sanchez has great potential. But he needs someone to work with him.

Re: coach. Lately, I'm starting to think the same thing. And Ryan's own admission that he didn't have a handle on his own team in 2011 hasn't helped my mood any.
Re: Sanchez. It appears that he moved quite rapidly from an eager rookie to a state of near-total complacence. It didn't matter how he performed, he knew he wasn't going to be removed from his starting role. That, more than anything else, has to change...or 2012 is not going to be a season to which we can look forward. I don't know if signing Peyton Manning will actually happen, but I don't doubt that it would serve as a pretty damn loud wake-up call to Sanchez. (And the poster who said that Manning would never play in the same city as his brother was facing 180 degrees in the wrong direction. Eli Manning doesn't deserve to walk in Peyton's shadow; he's the one who would have problems if Peyton signed a contract with the Jets).
