If you recall last year, the majority of the Patriot starters never played any of the four preseason games. I read a few things stating that that Pats plan to use starters this season to ensure Brady is warm.

Also, what's your opinions...Do you think this is the 2nd and 3rd stringers time to shine?

The pre-season games should not be solely for the fans' enjoyment.

I want to see every player ( especially the rookies ) on that roster get a chance, under a game condition, to show if he should be kept or cut.

Many rookies cut from one team, turn out to be starters and even pro-bowl players for another team later on.

Pre-season games are the time to evaluate.

Pre-season is the time to see what the 2nd and 3rd stringers can do. It is also to see what the newly drafted players can bring to the team.

Why risk having a starter or key player get injured in pre-season? JMO....

Nice to see younger players, but the thing they should do is chop the ticket prices in half since you are watching a lot of backups in a scrimmage.

Exactly right! Otherwise, how do you know you can count on them during the regular season, if that should be necessary (and it always is, isn't it?)

Even though it is tempting to be selfish and want to see the starters play more in pre-season, I concur that this is a time for necessary evaluation of 2nd and 3rd stringers/rookies. The problem is it sure makes these pre-season games boring overall.
