Week 2

The Ravens show a good balance of Offense and defence in a west coast battle in San Diego where it reached 100 degrees on the filed of play.

After a quick San Diego TD, Joe Flacco and the Ravens scored twice to take control of the game. The Chargers were unable to get any kind of running game going, so they had to throw to get their yards. In typical Ravens fashion, the Chargers moved the ball well between the 20 yard lines, but in 5 trips to the red zone, the Chargers came away with only four field goals, while the Ravens got into the red zone 4 times, coming up with 3 TDs and 1 FG.

Ray Lewis put a beautiful exclamation point on the game, by shooting the gap and going untouched into the backfield to stop Darren Sproles for a 2 yard loss on 4th and 2 with less than a minute to go. Spoles was the Chargers leading offensive weapon for the day.

Final Score
Ravens 31
Chargers 26

Ravens Record
2-0

First place in division

Go Ravens!!!

Cleveland Browns Move to Baltimore Revisited

Submitted by Eugmc on September 24, 2007 - 12:09pm.
Each week here at the Cleveland Leader we have spotlighted Cleveland Browns' history. Today we will look at something that will most likely ruffle some feathers. Art Modell, who transcended the National Football League into the television behemoth that it is today, deserves to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It is shameful that he has been shunned. One of the main culprits that has Modell on the outside looking in to the Hall of Fame doors is the Cleveland media, which have been blatantly unfair in how they represented the facts of the Browns franchise move to Baltimore.
In these parts, Art Modell is regarded somewhere between Saddam Hussein and the Devil himself. The truth of the matter is that it wasn't Modell who single-handedly blindsided the city of Cleveland and abruptly moved, as revisionist history would make you believe. The Browns were in desperate financial trouble and Modell clearly stated the facts before he announced his departure to Baltimore.

I worked for the Cleveland Browns in the 1995 season and will never forget an interview that Modell gave to Cleveland media. I was standing about 5 feet away, when Modell clearly stated that "all options were on the table" regarding the Browns. Everyone there knew what he meant. He was saying, in a public forum, that the Browns move could be imminent. In the interview he also stated his displeasure with then-Mayor Michael White and stated that he wasn't being offered a fair deal considering the city had built a stadium for the Cleveland Indians and an arena for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The next day I picked up the Plain Dealer to see what they would say about Modell's interview. Nothing was mentioned. Zip, Zero, Zilch.

So if the Ravens had come to todays game in their Retro Uniforms like the New York Titans (jets) and Huston Oilers (Tenn. Titans) Both Teams would have been the Browns

I don't think the Ravens would ever wear an old Browns uni. I think on retro day, they wear the unis they started with in 1996 with the old logo. The Ravens organization did not officially exist until 1996.

People just don't get it. These Ravens are not the old Browns. They never have been and they never will be. The Browns stayed in Cleveland. Art Modell and a bunch of football players went to Baltimore to become the Ravens. Two completely different teams.

How do you think the Titans felt playing the Titans today.
The Ravens were the Browns

Huh??? The Titans played the Jets today. They wore the Oilers unis because they are the same team that played in Houston as the Oliers. The franchise and all that went with it moved from Houston to Nashville.

On the other hand, the Browns organization, stayed in Cleveland and the Ravens organization began in 1996 in Baltimore with a brand new history. Jim Brown, Bernie Kosar and such never played for the Ravens organization. Those players stats are still in Cleveland with the Browns. Kyle Boller is the Ravens all time leading QB and Jamal Lewis is the Ravens all time leading RB. Those offensive leaders will change in due time. You can't say the same thing about the Colts, Rams, Cards and Titans because those organizations moved to the other cities. The Browns never went anywhere.

The players and coaches from the Browns were under contract to Art Model, so they had to play for him on his new team in Baltimore. You can think the Ravens are the old Browns all you want, but you'd be wrong.

The Jets were wearing the New York Titans Uniforms because they were the New York Titans. The Ravens were the Browns as sure as the Tennessee Titans were the Huston Oilers

Week 3

As if there were any doubt about the identity of the Baltimore Ravens as opposed to the Cleveland Browns, it was plain to see last Sunday as the Ravens dominated the Browns in all facets of the game.

Joe Flacco threw for 342 yards to 8 different receivers and the Ravens combined to rush for 142 yards. The defense forced 4 interceptions and the Ravens cruised to an easy win over the Browns.

Final Score
Ravens 34
Browns 3

Ravens Record
3-0

First place in division

Go Ravens!!!

I agree. I hope it's a good game, with the Ravens winning, of course.
