Should it be like the MLB where if it goes pass 9 innings?

I think both teams should have at least one possession. After that, sudden death.

I'm unsure of how it can correlate to MLB. You can compare it to college football where both teams get an equal shot starting at the 25 yard line.

I actually like college football's treatment of overtime, but I believe you've got to move it back some for the pros. My proposal is both teams get their turn from the 50 yard line eliminating the automatic gimme field goals. Both teams can record 1st downs same as during regulation and both teams get only 1 timeout. ALL challenges to come from the booth. If after 2 tries by each team and the game is still tied, move it to the 25 yard line where both teams still get an equal shot, but no field goals and they have to go for the 2 point conversion.

This should determine the game in reasonable time, and be more fair than one team getting the huge advantage in winning a coin flip.

When I say MLB style I mean one gets the ball first. If they score the other team has a chance to score, if that said team doesnt score then they lose. But if they do score then we go for another inning and continue.

Now if the first team doesnt score but the second team scores then the second team wins. Just like the MLB.

Meh, I don't even see the need in that. Sudden death is fine to me. It's 50/50 for either team to win when you get to OT, and thats about as fair as you can get it.

I think both teams should have an opportunity to score. So the team who scores first still has to get out there and play defense at least one more time so the opposing team has one last chance to tie or win.

Do it like the colleges but start on the 50

However, Arizona didn't let the rules and the coin toss stop them from finding a way to win w/o their offense taking the field.

Good point.

The overtime rules bring forth the importance of having good defense.

So I think maybe it should be left alone.
