Be a clipboard holder as a 3rd stringer? What the hell do the Eagles need him for at 42 when they just got rid of a 33 year old who was much better? I saw today on the NFL Network that Garcia wants to come back to the Eagles.

The man is obviously insane to think he would actually be resigned by the Eagles.

At the age of 42, Garcia would still be a good backup and mentor to Kolb.

IMO, the problem with Garcia is not talent. Teams passed on Garcia last year strictly by the amount of money he is asking for. He has always asked for more money than what he is really worth.

Funny how a much younger QB lik Mcnabb at 33 is ready for retirement and has nothing to offer any young QB but a old fart like Garcia at 42 is all of a suddden qualified to be this great mentor.

As my gandmom would say-"I SEE"

It astonishes me that anyone would have to point this out to you, but what the hell...I'm doing what has to be done. Read carefully:

Age does not determine how anyone performs on the field. You can be effective at 40, or washed up at 28. One thing has little to do with the other.

Evidently, someone in a front office decided to look elsewhere for a quarterback. That doesn't mean McNabb can't do the job any more. It means that the front office thinks he can't.

You're dealing with perceptions, not hard facts. And, I must say, if anyone has to point this out to you, it raises questions about how much you know about sports--in spite of your screen name.

You can have the benefit of the doubt as far as I'm concerned. But some of the questions you ask in these threads cannot help but make people wonder. (And just for the record, being a sports fan for 25 years isn't an indicator of how much knowledge you have. I've been a sports fan for more than 35, so let's not get into a discussion of who has more time under their belt!)

Garcia is a gamer at 42 years old and who is anyone to say that he is old and washed up. Garcia just loves playing the game, and if someone is going to give him a salary for it, then don't rain on his parade.

Let's remember now, he started in the CFL, so just becuase he's 42 years old, he's only been in the league for 11 years. He played 5 years in the CFL to finally get his chance in the NFL. So YES, he is a gamer and has done what it takes to be in the NFL, and will continue to do what it takes to be in the NFL.
