Sammy Baugh should probably be a nominee on this list.
Historical greats in football don't seem to receive the same recognition, or study, as greats in baseball.. But Baugh was great on defense, offense & special teams (punting). He should be considered alongside the great, dominant players from sports' history even tho he doesn't have the name recognition of historical greats like Ty Cobb, DiMaggio, etc..

Probably because baseball rules were more stable, on the field besides the designated hitter and batting helmets there is little difference compared to football's constant changes to put on a better TV show and account for bigger players and stronger kickers.
There is also the acceptance of baseball being once America's sport and MLB beating down racial segregation means more than just winning games.
