Raiders file grievance against Russell - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Quote:
The Oakland Raiders have filed a grievance against former quarterback JaMarcus Russell(notes) seeking repayment of $9.55 million, the team confirmed Thursday.

The grievance is based on the contention by the Raiders that the contract was changed at one point during Russell’s three-year stint with the organization and that he’s not allowed to keep all of the money he had collected prior to his May 7 release.
I'm not sure if they have a case but count me as someone who hopes the Raiders are sucessful in this.

Think he goes down as the biggest signing flop in the history of the game?

Whether they have a case or not depends on the fine print in the contract which I'm pretty sure no one on this board knows.

As much as he sucked, they are the ones that terminated the agreement.

I'm not sure about the biggest flop. I called him being a flop before he was even drafted. I'm not sure how anyone saw him as a successful QB in the NFL. It's not that hard to see that he isnt made for that.

I think he is a good athlete and could play in the NFL but not as a QB.

I figure I should bump this with Russell's arrest. The Raiders just got a little more help in this matter from that arrest.

All contracts have to be approved by the league office. If they didn't get that approval then the changes would be void anyways.
