Kenmore Dishwasher

Rating: 2 out of 5
  • Currently 2.0/5.0

I have been using this Kenmore Dishwasher for about two years. I could not find a model name on the unit, except, 'Kenmore. The model number was taken from the sticker inside the door. Our unit is black, which we found difficult to keep clean. I believe this dishwasher was manufactured by Frigidaire.

There were no problems with the installation of the dishwasher. The instruction manual was easy to follow. Once installed we did find the unit to be on the loud side, compared to our older dishwasher.

The unit does a fair job at washing dishes. Although there is a notable difference between the top rack and the lower one. The top rack does not receive much water. There is only one part of the washing mechanism that sprays water directly on the top rack, and this is only from the bottom of the rack. Any water to reach the dishes from the top comes from spray that works it way up on its own, and then falls back down on the top of the dishes located on the top rack.

Since the mechanism comes from the tub itself, when loading the unit, you must ensure nothing covers the hole in the middle of the bottom rack. If covered, the spout can not extend to reach the bottom of the top rack and your dishes will come out uncleaned.

Overall the unit has enough space to fit many dishes of various size. It is large enough for most of our pots too. I believe the silverware comes out the cleanest with each washing, and we have never had a problem with them not being clean.

We have had some maintenance problems with this dishwasher. After two years of use, the motor and tub pump needed to be replaced. Replacing the motor took an experienced repairman nearly a full day, and require the dishwasher to be removed from under the counter and flipped over.
