As safety should be the number one concern for any parent shopping for a baby car seat, all parents should look first at the Britax range. I researched long and hard before coming back to Britax and purchasing the Boulevard 70 CS model. With the MSRP of $329.99, this product is worth every cent for peace of mind.

This convertible car seat is one of the few that is suitable from birth (5lbs) up to 70lbs, so can be used rear-facing for the first year and can be turned forward-facing once the child reaches a year old and 20lbs. It is safe, sturdy, stylish and easy to install with the use of simple push-button lower latch connectors.
For safety, this model boasts SafeCell technology: a special construction that is designed to compress easily in the event of a crash, thus lowering the center of gravity of the seat and opposing the action that normally propels the child toward the front seat. Additionally, the car seat is reinforced with steel bars that reduce the forward flexion of the seat during a crash. Finally, the stage-release, energy absorbing Versa tethers that anchor the top of the baby seat to the main car seat slow the forward motion of the baby seat during impact.

These safety features alone are impressive; however, all Britax car seats have a five-point safety harness as standard, and in most models, the chest pads are made of a special elasto-polymer with treads on the reverse side that minimize forward movement of a child in the event of a crash.

The seat itself has plush fabric with plenty of cushioning and the covers are removable for washing. Matching comfort pads and infant body pillow provide extra comfort for the smaller baby. The Boulevard 70 CS is easy to put in and get out of the vehicle and the straps are easy to adjust. My kids love the high up position that allows them to see out of the window. Second to safety, the other reason I bought this seat is that it has a simple recline feature. I do wish it had a cup holder attachment though, but that is more of a want than a need!
