Proctor Silex 43571 Automatic Drip Coffeemaker

We drink a lot of coffee and as a result, we have gone through many coffee makers over the years. They just don't seem to last, but our most recent purchase (although not that recent) is the Proctor Silex Automatic Drip Coffeemaker. It has been going strong for well over a year now.

It is a very simple, inexpensive coffee machine with a programmable clock so that we wake up to fresh coffee, it automatically turns off after two hours, it has an auto-pause so that we don`t need to wait for the coffee to finish brewing before taking a cup, and we can set it to make the strength of coffee that we prefer. The coffee pot, the lid and the brew basket are all dishwasher safe. The rest of the coffee machine is easy to clean, just wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it. The Proctor Silex 12 cup coffee maker is approximately 8.1 x 11.8 x 10.7 inches, and weighs six pounds.
There are a few issues with this coffee maker such as how easy it is to accidentally hit one of the buttons. I have accidentally changed the time on the clock which in turn changed the time that the coffee brewed in the morning, and I have accidentally turned the machine on or off on occasion. The digital clock is not lit so you need to turn on a light to see the time. It is only available in white. There is also an issue with the location of the water level indicator. It is set off to the side and towards the back of the machine which makes it difficult to clearly see how much water has been poured into the reservoir. The work around that I found for this issue is to pull the coffee machine out from its location to a spot where I can easily view the water level as I pour the water in.
It makes a very nice pot of coffee and brews it quickly. You can choose to make a pot of coffee from four cups up to 12 cups.
It is nothing fancy but works very well. It keeps the coffee hot for a few hours after brewing so there is no need to microwave a cup of coffee unless it is past the two hour automatic shutoff limit. The price is good for the quality and what you get.

The brewer lid won't close. After I add coffee to the basket, when I attempt to close the lid: it doesn't close. Looks like the holder and the lid latch will not allow the lid to seal???
