Mitsubishi XD95U Projector

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

The Mitsubishi XD95U is a very small DLP Projector. The XD95U is designed for the road warrior, someone always on the move. It is compact and lightweight, about the size of a large hardcover book. The XD95U weighs just over three pounds.

This projector produces a bright and clear image. The XD95U has a contrast ratio of 2000:1 with a resolution of 1024x768. It has a display format of 786,432 pixels. All these stats means it creates a great image.

The lamp is a 200 watt bulb, with an advertised life cycle of 2000 to 3000 hours. I have only used it for a few hundred hours but I hope it will actually last a few thousand hours. It accepts a wide variety of analog inputs including, NTSC and PAL. You can connect it via RGB, S-Video or composite video cables. With these capabilities, the Mitsubishi XD95U Projector should work both home and abroad.

Mitsubishi has designed this micro-unit to project in the following video modes: 480p, 720p, 1080i, 480i, 525i, 525p, 625p, 625i, 576i, 576p, 750p, 1125i. I have only tried it at the lower end 480p and 1080i and I was very pleased with the resulting images.

On the negative side, I found the battery life of the remote control to be shorter then expected. The remote control works well with fresh batteries, but once the power in the batteries weakens, so does the range of the remote. Always be sure to carry an extra set of batteries with you for the remote.

The size and great flexibility of this projector make it an outstanding choice for anyone. If you need a small and ultra versatility projector it would be a perfect pick for you. The Mitsubishi XD95U Projector retails for just under $1000.
