2007 Chevrolet Impala

Rating: 2 out of 5
  • Currently 2.0/5.0

I don't give too much thought to a car's name. For me there little more than marketing pitches designed to wow consumers with energetic sounding titles. However, I found that Chevrolet Impala to be egregiously guilty of consumer deception with its title. An impala is a fast creature that implies grace, speed and beauty. Perhaps an impala would make a great name for a sports car, no?
Nevertheless, the Chevrolet Impala is one of the most boring and dull rides I have ever come across. What exactly, pray tell Chevrolet, is graceful, fast or beautiful about this vehicle? The exterior is nothing special. It seemed like the designers phoned it in for this model or were distracted by the number of reboots and re-launches being conducted on the rest of the Chevrolet line. The interior is roomy and looks like a good place to take a nap. I guess that's beneficial in some way should passengers begin knocking off.
Driving this car is an exercise in patience. The engine lacks power or pick up and just slowly hums it way to speed. Maneuverability is unremarkable and the driving the car leaves you with a sense that you're just going through the motions of getting from point A to point B.
While the price is reasonable, there are far better options out there than the Impala. For roughly the same amount one can purchase a vehicle that is not only better looking but packs more oomph where it counts. Perhaps the dull design on the Impala is a security features because I couldn't picture anyone that would want to steal this car.
Fuel efficiency is a plus but this car is certainly not for anyone who takes a few minutes to contemplate their purchase at the dealership.
