Breville CBL6 Optiva Blender
Rating: 4 out of 5
I purchased this Blender a few years ago and since there I actually purchased another more expensive one just for the look of it (the same brand) but this original one has lasted more and works just as well for general blending.
When looking at it, the design is quite simple and so are the options on the front. Instead of a lot of buttons and options there is just 'Pulse' and two speeds. For someone who uses the blended for very specific things that need particular speeds etc - this may not be the best blender. But for everyone who just uses the blender for general purposes, this would have to be the best low cost blender and it really doesn't need anything else.
It has a blade that cuts through ice very fast. So basically, no matter what is put into the blender, it will blend well at a very high speed.
Cleaning this blender is so easy! Everything twists apart easily and all sections can be washed with ease. Putting it back together is just as easy as well. When twisting the bottom off, there is also a rubber piece that can be removed. In other blenders I haven't seen this, but it means that every tiny little part that could remain is washed away.
The glass blender also means that it doesn't retain any smell no matter what you are blending, which after a few years of using a blender for a number of different things, can really start to be nasty.
As for durability, this has been through the dishwasher a number of times with all pieces apart. There has never been even a small leak or any signs that it is working any less then when first purchased.
The base is a bit heavy, but that really is a small price to pay for the excellent performance and quality.
