Oster Classic Beehive Blender

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

I purchased the Oster Classic Beehive Blender in approximately February of 2010 because I needed a new blender that was more durable and larger than my Magic Bullet and hand-held mixer. My main reason for selecting this blender was the aesthetics.

The machine is stainless so it matched my appliances, and has a contemporary yet retro styling. I love the sleek look of this machine. Another great feature of the Oster Classic is the simplicity. It is easy to use, with only two speeds. Some argue that the machine is limited because it only has two speeds, but I find it simple and not overly complicated. Let's face it, when you are mixing up a smoothie, how many speeds do you really need? I paid $67.99 for the machine and am quite pleased with my purchase so far.

The major con I find with this blender is the noise level. It is very noisy, especially when ice is added for mixed drinks or smoothies. The sound is a loud roar and although it crushes ice perfectly, it takes time and is very loud. If you have a sleeping baby or just like peace and quiet, this may not be the machine of choice. There are other blenders on the market that cost a little more but provide quality use with a much lower noise level.

The Oster Classic is definitely a middle of the road blender in terms of performance. There are other higher end blenders out there that cost a hundred or more dollars but perform at a much higher level. For the price, the Beehive Blender is perfect though. This blender is a great value for the price.

I especially like the blender for whipping up protein shakes in the morning before starting my day. The easy clean-up makes use efficient and not cumbersome like most kitchen appliances. Making sure you add enough liquid is crucial or the engine could burn up, but this is just common sense. I do wish there was some sort of storage for the cord because it just hangs there when putting the appliance away, but if you are planning on leaving the blender plugged in on the counter this should not be an issue.

There may be better blenders out there, but I have always been content with the Oster brand. The quality and customer service are above average and for the price, this machine works great and produces exactly what I need it to.
