I was really pleased to take possession of a new steam iron, which write-up's described as making ironing so much easier; just what I was looking for I thought, as this particular household chore probably tops the list when it comes to my worst home duties.* With that in mind I don't think any one item has caused me so much frustration as the Rowena DX1900 effective cord reel steam iron.*
I'm certainly no expert, but I firmly believed that Rowena had a good name in the industry, so surely I would be getting a reliable, safe and quality product?* Absolutely not!* In my opinion this iron is simply no good.* I have ruined at least half a dozen items of clothing, including a $100 shirt, which I hadn't even had the enjoyment of wearing just once.* The iron is incapable of maintaining an even temperature and this often results in fabrics sticking to the plate and leaving permanent marks on the garments.*
The power steam button frequently sticks, and the auto-off switch is defective, regularly switching itself off after a matter of seconds.* A quick fix was a little shake of the devise, but this stopped working after a while, meaning the only way to rectify the problem was to switch off at the plug.* The steam settings do not correspond, with excessive steaming sometimes risking injury.*
The only consistent thing about Rowena's DX1900 iron is its inconsistency.* Instead of improving my ironing experience it has intensified my dislike of it.* At $90 it is a complete waste of money.* I have given up on the product and will be purchasing a cordless Panasonic NI-L70SR in the near future - at least I'll have no great expectations and can pick one up for about half the price.*
