Smeg SAP399X-8 Electric Oven
Rating: 5 out of 5
My house doesn't have a gas line so everything has to be electricity, which is why I purchased this oven. Previous electric ovens just don't do the job like when I had gas ovens so I thought if I paid a bit more, it would pay itself off with quality. And it did.
This is definitely a high quality oven and the features really make it good for people who really like to cook a range of different types of food.
The heat knob is standard, twisted to the desired temperature. There is a red light indicator that will flash until the oven has heated to the temperature selected and the oven will also beep to let you know.
The really impressive part begins when looking at the different options when cooking. Instead of just setting a heat, you actually need to set the way you want the oven to cook. This is a little difficult at first and everytime I cooked the manual was taken out to see which one was used for what, but after awhile it's easy. There are 12 different cooking options ranging from the general 'static oven function' or 'fan assisted function' all the way up to more complex specific cooking such as 'lower heating and fan function'.
For anyone that dreads to clean an oven, this oven is definitely for you. It has two settings for assisted cleaning and it means that instead of using harsh chemicals and scrubbing the oven - it's as easy as wiping it down with one wipe after the cleaning cycle goes through.
The clock is analogue, which actually makes it look even more stylish then it already does. This also has standard options like a timer.
There are a huge amount of accessories that go with the oven. Some of these will come with the purchase depending on where you buy and the time you buy. Apart from the different types of oven t rays, we also got a special handle and a gripper used to remove hot trays from the oven without using oven mits.
One thing that people might not like is the noise. It is not loud, but you can hear it on some settings and also when the oven is turned off and not in use the fan stays on until the inside is completely cool. This is great for maintenance and safety but not if you want complete quiet.
