Samsung 7.4 cu. ft. Steam Electric Dryer DV419AEW

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

The Samsung steam dryer is the perfect appliance for those who hate ironing. The steam setting gently releases wrinkles while drying, without damaging fabrics. I use the refresh cycle often to revive clothes that have been worn but aren't dirty. This allows me to wear clothing several times between washes, avoiding premature wear and color fading. At $1099 MSRP, this dryer was a bit pricey, but has already saved me hundreds in dry cleaning bills. Before I bought this washer, I was spending close to $85 a month at the cleaners. I rarely have the need to go to the cleaners now. I had never owned a Samsung appliance before, but have been very happy with the quality. This machine is very sturdy and made of quality materials. This dryer has a very modern, sleek design and is so quiet. I love that Samsung ditched the classic buzzer in favor of a pleasant digital trill to announce the end of a cycle. The only thing I do not like about this dryer is that the automated dry cycle does not work properly with towels and blankets. It is designed to sense when the load is dry and shut off automatically. With most items this is a wonderful feature that saves energy and prevents shrinkage. But with towels and thick blankets, it shuts off before they are thoroughly dry. Even so, this is not very inconvenient. I simply use the manual, timed dry cycle for these items and adjust the temperature accordingly. The timed cycle has set options in ten minute increments that can be further adjusted down to the minute. While the Samsung steam dryer is on the upper end of the pricing scale, you will recoup much of the cost within the first few years through saved energy and dry cleaning expenses and longer clothing life.
