Calphalon Knives 21 Piece Knife Block Set

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

With a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $430, many people won't buy this set of Calphalon knives for their personal home, but it is the last set that a cook may ever need. One piece of steel runs from the tip all the way through the handle so there's no possibility that the blade will become loose. The handles sandwiched around the steel are a comfortable fit in your hand.

The German no-stain steel sharpens easier than regular stainless steel and holds an edge very well. They all are rust and stain preventative so they stay looking good. I hand wash mine as the manufacturer suggests and they look the same as when I first bought them, and the wood block they stay in is a compliment to any kitchen.

The maker saw fit to put the type of knife imprinted on the end of each handle so you won't pull the wrong one from the wood block when you make your selection. Your biggest problem with this set is making sure every blade is returned back to its proper place.

I don't really have anything negative to say about this cutlery set. It has been everything I expected in a knife set and I've only had to sharpen a couple of the blades so far. If there is one thing that I'm concerned with, it's the chance that a small child might get hurt with one of the blades but that would be the case with any knife set. I keep mine pushed back on the countertop so my granddaughter can't reach them from the floor.

You will be spoiled if you use this Calphalon knife set because you'll never want to work in the kitchen again without them. Be sure to have a proper cutting block so you don't damage your countertops. I give these knives my highest recommendation and think you will be very satisfied with them as well.
