Olympus E-620 Digital SLR Camera*
As a keen amateur photographer, I have experience of many of the leading names in the digital camera world, such as Nikon, Canon, Sony and Olympus.* I have made a specific target of any new releases and for that reason I excitedly anticipated great things from the new Olympus E-620 single lens reflex (SLR).* I was pleased with the appearance of the camera, but for the incredibly high asking price of $700, the look of the model was the least of my expectations.*
I took the digital camera to an event, but was disappointed with the results.* The image quality was reasonable, but I was expecting much better.* I maybe had unrealistic hopes for the product, due in no small part, to its major push in the lead up to its release.** The tonal expression just didn't have anything different from previous cameras; the natural color was no sharper than anything else I'd seen, and the features were not especially startling.*
On the whole the camera's performance was fine, but fine was not what you would expect to get for an outlay of $700; you want a product that everybody else casts envious glances at and one you proudly carry about your person in the company of fellow enthusiasts.* I have to say that, although let down by it, the E-620 is certainly not a point and shoot product, it does have qualities and I would rate it on a par with the latest Sony and Canon releases, but they are not so expensive.*
I have long thought that the daddy of all SLR digital cameras belong to the Nikon family and it is theirs that seem to attract the professionals more than any others* I have since off loaded the E-620* in favor of Nikon, I'm afraid it just didn't hold my focus.
