Kelty Cabana

I didn't pay much attention when I purchased the Kelty Cabana tent but this is one small tent. It's okay for the beach or as an extra tent for camping next to the lake but I'd hate to be in this thing if the weather took a windy turn.

We were looking for a three-sided tent because we wanted an indoor-outdoor shelter, but this was one of those impulse purchases. Thanks to Kelty's good marketing, I picked up the Kelty Cabana and didn't give much thought to the size. I was a bit aggravated when I set this up and realized I paid right at a hundred dollars for a product so flimsy.

On the plus side, the tent is easy to set up. The poles quickly slide through the designated tented sleeves and a pro at camping can have this tent set up in about five minutes.

I would recommend this cabana to a select few. I think if someone plans to use the cabana solely as shelter from the sun at sporting events or festivals, it might serve the purpose. However, I wouldn't count on the Kelty Cabana to protect from hard winds and rain. I'd hate to try to disassemble this tent during a storm because the poles are cheap and the polyester taffeta will blow away if a tight grip is lost.

If I were a consumer looking for a baby shelter for beach use, then I might consider the Kelty Cabana because it is the perfect size for small children. My four year old niece likes to use it as her play house when she visits and because of that aspect, I guess I'm okay with our purchase. However, I doubt I'll take this tent on many trips.
