The Vornado DVTH EH1-0028-06 Space Heater

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

Two years ago we had a cold snap - a serious cold snap where the temperatures dropped to well-below zero and even our fairly well-insulated home was becoming chilly. To help defray the expense of our propane-run furnace, we invested in three space heaters, one for each bedroom; so that we could keep the bedrooms warm but turn down the heat in the rest of the house in order to cut down on heating costs at night.

The model we chose, due to its relatively low price, was the Vornado DVTHEH1-0028-06. This compact space heater had the features we needed, but was fairly pricey at $139.00 apiece. But we decided that we would take the chance and bought the heaters. For the most part we were happy with them. They did heat the rooms up quickly and effectively and didn't take up that much wattage while doing it and were also quiet, a key feature in a bedroom at night. The digital display lets you know the room temperature and allows you to set the desired temperature and will automatically adjust the heater accordingly.

While the heater was only blowing hot air, it did heat up one of my daughter's plastic toys to the point that it began to melt, so a recommendation to keep the fans away from small children and anything that could possibly get too hot is probably something to keep in mind. We also had a problem with one of the heaters, it would glitch, causing the display to go strange and display random squiggles and we would have to shut it off by unplugging it. We returned the model to the store and exchanged it, twice. The third Vornado heater we received worked as well as the first two, and we have had no further complaints.
