GE Iron 169133

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

I purchased this iron a year ago for $29.98. It is a good, inexpensive iron that serves its purpose. It has a nice black design with grey accents. It has two push buttons on top, one for steam and one for spray. There is also a switch to let you have as much or as little steam as you would like. This switch does not feel sturdy and I would think that it could break easily with little use. There is also a spin dial that allows you to set the iron to off, linen, cotton, rayon, polyester, wool, silk, acrylic, and nylon. There is a little chart next to the settings to let you know if it is advisable to use steam on certain fabrics or if you should iron the fabrics dry.

The cord has a good long length, although there is no where to store it, and there is no good place to wrap it around the iron itself. The sprayer works good. The base of the iron feels sturdy, but the iron is a little light itself. The metal heating pad on the bottom seems to heat evenly and does a good job at ironing clothes.

One of the things I like most about this iron is that it has an automatic shut off safety feature. If it has sat untouched for 20 minutes, it will automatically shut off. There is a small button on the side of the iron that you can push if you want the iron to restart and reset itself to where it was when it shut off. This is a great feature and makes me feel safe using it and letting it cool down on the ironing board. I know that if I forget to shut it off, when I come back it will still be ready to put away as it has already cooled off. For the price, I feel that this is a good quality iron.
