Kawasaki Ninja Supersport ZX-10R

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

The green bodywork of the Kawasaki Ninja is instantly eye catching, and I believe one of the best looking motorbikes available. This super sport model was Kawasaki's answer to the BMW S1000RR, their first superbike with 190bhp.
The Ninja, however, just pulls ahead with 197bhp, with a lighter frame than any previous models that make it much quicker off the mark. The four-stroke liquid cooled engine had four valves a cylinder, adding up to 998cc engine. The braking system really makes the Kawasaki's performance top of the superbikes, with optional ABS. 310mm semi floating petal discs and four piston calipers are on the front wheel, while the back has a single 220mm disc and single piston caliper that improve cornering compared to other Kawasaki bikes.
The Kawasaki sounds amazing, whether it's idling in traffic, starting up or accelerating along straights, with the roar of the engine that you instantly connect to superbikes. It's the only bike made by a Japanese company fitted with a traction control system suitable for racing and it peaks at about 11,000 rpm, a little higher than the BMW. For a one liter engine, the Ninja starts to give you real power at 8000 to 10,000 rpm, but keeps pushing even up to nearly 15,000, which shows the quality of the engineering in the Ninja.
You can buy the Kawasaki Ninja ZX 10R for $13,799, available with a 12 month warranty in lime green and black or all black. The seating position is quite low, which makes it a little uncomfortable on long journeys, but the all round acceleration, speed and handling of the Ninja is why this is one of the most desirable super sport bikes and tops the list of the most stolen motorcycles worldwide.
