We enjoy buying products in bulk, making homemade meals to freeze, getting good deals on frozen foods or meats. We replaced our old worn-out chest freezer with a new and frost free Amana 20.1 Cu Ft. Frost-Free Upright Freezer - and this has made all the difference in our buying of bulk foods. We are able to parboil and freeze fresh vegetables from the garden, buy bulk foods like steaks and burgers and even ice cream when we find them on sale. It's also perfect when we want to start holiday baking and freeze baked goods, or make ahead hors d'oeuvres for a party or tailgating. There are all sorts of wonderful reasons to have this extra freezing unit at home.

The Amana freezer has a large capacity to store any number and size foods. Its Energy Star rated and will save money while saving energy and that is always a plus. The freezer has a Fast Freeze setting that allows you to quickly freeze a lot of food and bulk items. There are also 4 moveable shelves and a large storage basket that are adjustable so you can customize your shelf positions according to your immediate need. Another great feature is that there are 6 Stor-Mor(TM) in the door storage shelves so smaller items are not lost within the freezer. The light is also bright and helps when you are seeking items in low light areas. We found that during a recent power failure, that even after almost 8 hours without power, there was no apparent loss of freezing as long as we kept the door tightly closed.

One of my favorite features is that Amana has moved the temperature control knob to the front of the freezer. In the past, you had to reach behind everything to adjust how cold you wanted the freezer to be at any given time. Now all you have to do is open the door, and the knob is right there so you can control that temperature. This is also the frost free model, so manual defrosting is a distant memory.

The design of the freezer is sleek. There is a curved door (hinges hidden) and a very modern looking handle. It comes in white, so it doesn't go with my preferences of stainless steel or black, but as we have this located in our lower level kitchen, it looks quite nice.
