NIX N' EASY X15A Digital Picture Frame

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

The X15A photo frame has a matte black finish to the thin frame border that makes the entire frame look stunningly minimalist and sets off the picture perfectly. While advertised with 15 inches, the X15A doesn't then use valuable screen space with the frame, but gives you high quality 1024 x 768 pixels of LED backlit screen.
For $219.99, this digital photo frame is a lot cheaper than many of its smaller rivals, and I can only assume that it is because there is 1GB of memory rather than the more common 2GB. Apart from limited memory however, it's one of the best digital frames that I've used and doesn't compromise on image or color quality. Perhaps for photographers who want to display photographs that they've taken a lot of time over a higher resolution would be preferable, but for general use the X15A is perfectly suitable.
Using it with your computer is easy with the help of a USB connection, and the frame is compatible with a number of memory cards and with USB flash drives, which can solve the problem of limited memory by expanding it. This also cuts out the computer if you prefer to transfer photos from camera to frame. The only problem that I have with the X15A is that it only accepts JPEG images, while I have a number of other formats that I would like to display. AVI and MPEG-4 are accepted for video and MP3 for music.
My photo frame came with a wall mount, which is a rarely offered feature that I find particularly valuable as I have limited wall space and like the photo frame at eye level. There's also a remote control to save you having to lift it from the wall to change the pictures.
I was skeptical when I first set up the X15A, because I assumed that I would be sacrificing pixels and image quality for the price. In contrast, this is now my favorite of any digital photo frame I've used, and I believe that it is excellent quality, despite the slightly reduced memory at 1GB.
