Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

I prefer a cordless iron but for heavy duty ironing jobs, the Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer does a good job. With a spacious water tank, I'm able to complete all steaming jobs without a refill.

The smooth soleplate is stainless steel allowing an easy glide over all garments regardless of the material. Ironing time, in comparison to other heavy duty irons, is cut in half primarily because of the steady steam power this iron releases.

The Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer is high-powered and the product isn't light weight so I can't imagine someone using this particular item for all laundry jobs. Since the iron is bulky, I don't like to use the Rowenta for daily ironing. However, for steaming shirts and ironing thicker material, this is a good product to have on hand.

I do have a problem with the iron dripping water at the elevated upright position but that's an issue that can be resolved. I try to use only about half the space of the water tank rather than fill to the capacity since I have noticed the leaking. This was a little disappointing considering the price.

I would've preferred an iron with a detachable tank like two of the previous cordless irons I've owned. I highly recommend, particularly for the pressure irons, that consumers wait until the iron cools before they refill the water. Otherwise, the backlash of steam could present a safety issue and cause unexpected burns.

The only reason we bought the Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer was because we wanted a professional quality end result for some of our dresses and suits. This product has reduced our professional dry cleaning bill. However, I believe if we'd shopped prices, we might have found another pressure iron and steamer at a better price point.
