General Electric Sensor Microwave Oven WES1130DMBB

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

The GE Sensor Microwave Oven is a great microwave at a modest price. Purchased at a retail store, set up was easy. You just need to remove the oven from the box and plug it in. The buttons are well marked, so it's easy to figure out what to use for popcorn, potatoes, reheating, etc. One handy feature is a 30-second button. Rather than having to reprogram the oven, you simply hit the button and add extra cooking time. The manual is very user friendly!

The oven comes with a 12" glass turntable which distributes heat, heating food evenly. No more surprise bites of too hot or too cold food. The turntable can easily be removed and washed in the dishwasher. The oven is tall and deep enough to accommodate most cooking dishes. I have noticed that popcorn sometimes doesn't need the full amount of time that the oven is programmed for, while potatoes need extra time.

The microwave oven runs quietly. Once it finishes cooking something, it will beep until the door is opened. This is a nice feature. It's easy to pop something into the microwave and forget about it. I especially like the reheat button. It heats food to a hot temperature, but not to a point where it splatters all over.

One drawback to the GE Sensor Microwave Oven is the door. You have to push the bottom button to automatically open the door. However, it tends to stick. There isn't a handle on the door, so when it sticks, you press in the button and grip the door.

Overall, the features are wonderful. It has ten power levels and six express cook buttons. It quickly defrosts meat. Unlike cheap microwaves, food can be heated in a very short amount of time. The unit is compact and works great on a counter.
