Xerox Phaser 6128MFP/N - Multifunction copier

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

We needed a color copier for our home office and after some research we opted for Xerox Phaser. The Phaser is far more than a copier. It is fax, copier, printer and scanner at the same time. It prints and copies in black and white or in color. It can even fax color documents.

The Phaser is laser digital machine that can do up to 40,000 copies or printouts per month on plain paper. It can do 16 pages per minute of black and white or 12 pages of color copies. The resolution of 600 dpi (dots per inch) is more than enough even for printing photos that are not too big.

The copier works for any type of documents, the lid can be lifted for books, for example. It can copy up to 35 sheets of paper through document feeder. The largest size document it can copy is legal size (8.5"x14").

The copier can be connected to the computer via USB port and works on all types of operating systems. It can also be connected to the home network, so all computers in the house can use it.

What I particularly like about this copier/printer is that it takes less than a minute to warm up, so by the time I boot up my computer, it is ready to go.

We paid $499 for it at Xerox Direct and we thought it was a bargain for such a versatile machine, until we had to buy cartridges. Each cartridge is over 100 dollars and you need four, one black and three color. We ended up using the color very little, especially for photos, which are very color-thirsty. Another thing that we found inconvenient is that the Phaser is pretty bulky, so it is difficult to find a suitable place for it in a home environment, even if you have a designated office space. But, it is stand-alone, so we did not have to come up with a table for it.
