In my girl's basement, the heat from the furnace, which is actually in the basement ironically, doesn't come through the vents very well. So we purchased this little heater just to have something at our feet when we are sitting on the couch watching a movie or something down there.
The heater does come on and starts blowing fast enough. It's kind of small, light beige, and has a grill-like design around the heating surface. This is one of those heaters that someone can place under a desk, a counter, or a corner of the room and it will still do the job. It's pretty lightweight, and I can easily transport this thing anywhere. It's not too loud, and it doesn't make a bunch of clicking noises like other inexpensive space heaters I've bought before.
There are couple dials on the top of the unit for adjusting settings. There is the standard thermostat that can be turned up or down depending on how much heat is needed at the time, and the wattage dial. The wattage dial has two settings, low and high, and heat can be forgone altogether if needed. Just set the dial to "fan."
This heater also has a lot of safety features, which I like because there usually are young kids and a cat running around the basement area. If the heater is moved at all while it is operating, it will turn off, and it also cuts off if it gets accidently tipped over. Even if someone lifts it up while it is on, it's going to turn itself off.
The things I like best about this unit is, it's inexpensive and blows fast heat for its size. I also like that none of the surfaces get so hot that there is a risk of getting burned if someone touches it.
