On our last trip to Napa Valley we collected over a dozen cases of various cabernets and just as many chardonnays. When we got home with our compilation we realized we needed more cellar space.
We turned to the product we know best and have used for several years. A company called Vigilant. Their free standing wine racks are some of the best in the business. Other companies use pine, oak or even particle board for their wine racks. Vigilant uses only mahogany wood. This is a sturdy wood that resists cracking over time. These bins can hold over 200 bottles and they are the tallest models made. We had our choice of finishes, stains actually, where as other manufacturers only painted their bins and cases.
When we purchased our first wine rack in early 2006 we bought the Diamond Wine Rack. This particular design is not new to the wine industry but, with the strength of mahogany, this model is superior to other wine rack products. Back then the price was just under $500.00. We looked at other companies who had the same design, many of them were cheaper but, they stated they used 'a sturdy wood.'
We have purchased several and have yet to have a problem.
