Frigidaire Galley Commerical Heavy Duty Washer, Model Number: GLWS1349AS1
Rating: 4 out of 5
I have owned my Frigidaire clothes washer for almost 7 years. It has been a dependable appliance throughout that time. This particular model has 13 cycles and is classified as a commercial heavy duty washer, with super capacity. It has a two-speed motor, and is 115VAC-60Hz-10AMPS. Without the electronic controls of many newer washers, it is still very easy to use, if not exactly flashy. The capacity is indeed larger, and having the option of 13 different cycles is great. Those cycles include various combinations of wash/rinse temperataures, extra rinse options, load size options, soak/presoak options, and choices of white, permanent press, and knits/hand wash options. The majority of the time, I leave my washer on the same settings, and only adjust the temperature for a cold or warm wash. But it is nice to have a full range of choices available.
The washer is not overly loud, but does have a helpfully loud buzzer at the end of the cycle. I wouldn't put the washer out in an open space or too near a nursery or TV room, but in the normal laundry room set-up, the noise will not be disturbing.
The real pluses of this model are as follows: it cleans very well, it provides an exhaustive list of cycle choices, it is reliable, and it is very roomy. If there are any minuses, they are few: it is not an Energy Star model, and if I were to make a similar purchase today, I would look for that designation. It is also rather plain-- but is that really important in a washing machine?
In the almost 7 years I have owned it, it has never broken down or needed servicing, and is still going quite strong today. Therefore, I can definitely recommend this model, if not a later model, in the Frigidaire Galley heavy duty series.
