DLC-2A-Mini-Prep Plus Processor

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

This little food processor has been a great product for us. We've been using it for a year or so and it's perfect for chopping up onions for soups, vegetables for chicken salads, garlic - you name it. You can let it run for a few minutes straight to really grind something up or you can just pulse it slowly if you don't want something chopped up too much. We have used it a lot to make fresh pestos. The design is nice and compact because it only holds about three cups of anything in it. It is also very easy to use with well-marked cups, lock settings and easy to see buttons. It can be difficult to clean because it's so small and you can't put it in the dishwasher. It absolutely has to be taken apart and washed slowly by hand. The product prices at about $40 but I know we could have bought the same thing for much less money. There are products by Kitchen Gourmet that do the same thing and you can purchase them at a place Walgreens for maybe $9.99. We were concerned a brand like that wouldn't hold up as well and for as long as the Cuisinart, though. If we were to purchase another food processor, we for sure buy a larger one, like maybe the 20-cup one. The three cups just isn't enough when you're chopping vegetables to make a large pot of soup, a salad for a larger group or even just making fun drinks. As far as safety, this product, like most food processors has its hazards. The blade is very sharp so you have to be really careful when you are trying to clean it. We have been cut more than once. Over all we would recommend the product, though.
