Hamilton Beach Blender 51000 (Proctor Silex Product)
Rating: 3 out of 5
Currently 3.0/5.0
I purchased my blender on a whim from Sears; it was on sale and I didn't do any kind of research before I bought it. I really wanted to make fruit smoothies for my family.
When I bought the Hamilton Beach 51000, I quickly browsed through the owner's manual and it said that it crushed ice to make smoothie drinks. I was disappointed when I tried to make my first fruit drink. It crushed and blended the fruit without a problem. I suppose you could say it crushed ice but, the ice was far from smooth. There were small chunks of ice throughout the drink and it was useless trying to use a straw. I have sensitive teeth and biting into one of those little chunks of ice was not a pleasant experience. It works well on softer food and does an excellent job blending. It makes great milk shakes and blends my sauces to perfection.
I paid just under $40 for the unit and I think that was my mistake. I expected it to do more than it really could. A more powerful blender is what I really needed.
