KitchenAid Range Base Model: KECD807XSS
Rating: 5 out of 5
I was so excited when I received my KitchenAid range with a flat cook top. I have had both electric and gas ranges but, our area has no gas lines so my choice had to be electric.
I knew my days of cleaning under those ugly electric coils were over. I detested having to remove the drip pans to clean them and to clean under them.
When I had my new kitchen put in my installation crew dropped in my stove top. I was able to use it right away. The smooth glass allowed me to move my pots and pans freely from one heating element to another. The heating elements head up promptly and cook evenly. I wish I could have had this when my children were small. The control knobs on top are out of reach of little hands. The downdraft element allowed me to get rid of my ugly range hood. Since that element catches all the smoke and cooking residue I don't have to worry about scraping grease off my oak cabinets.
We purchased this cook top a little over a year ago. My kitchen installers said they got a good deal on the stove so I would really have trouble estimating a price. I looked at others but they didn't have the downdraft element I wanted.
There are a couple of downsides to this cook top. I do a great deal of cooking and a lot of crumbs, grease and food particles get caught under the knobs and downdraft element. Crumbs also find their way underneath the cook top itself. All and all, this cook top is superior to any range or cook top I have had.
