The bag may not be installed properly or has a hole in it; maybe the roller brush is clogged and not turning. I always buy the Sears Kenmore bags made for the machine. Never a problem.

I took it to a vac service dealer, and as soon as he started it up, he knew the problem. It was electrical, and he replaced the entire wand from where it attaches to the handle, the prongs were burnt out causing the sporadic power. He sells all brands of vacs, and said for me not to buy a new vac. That this model of Sears vac shoul easily last another 10 years. Nice, honest dealer.

I have a small Kenmore canister vacuum cleaner. It doesn't use bags and I've had it many many years, maybe 40 or more. It cost $50.
