Usually I find that when I am suffering from self-esteem, I am too focused on myself and my own problems and fall into the "king baby" syndrome..Sometimes the best way to feel better about yourself is to take yourself out of yourself. Do charity work. Help people. Become more giving and kind. Walk around with a smile on your face and be happy towards people.

I have found that usually when I am in a nasty mood or whatever, I treat others with disdain or nastiness, it is usually because I am unhappy myself. When you love yourself, it is so much easier to be nicer to others. When you feel crappy about yourself, you usually see the world and everything in it (people) as crappy...Everything else is usually a short term solution. Happiness comes from within.

Hope that helps..

Self esteem comes from actually accomplishing things, not from breathing. It is earned.

Get your act together in life and be good at something, anything. Be a person that you'd like to know. Stretch yourself beyond your self-imposed boundaries.

nobody has too much self esteem. they just pretend to be self confident to look cool.

every person has problems with themselves and nobody is even close to be perfect.

thinking "everybody is like me, the only difference is that they try to seem self confident but actually they're not because they have so many deficiencies just as all the other people" gives me self confidence all the time.

I think it can depend on age. Young adults can benefit from good counseling or psychologists, where they lack a supportive household. However, self-esteem by itself isn't usually a good enough reason to get counseled and institutions usually focus on worst cases first. At the same time, there maybe camps for this type of thing, might be worth it for a parent. I am not suggesting the "every child is great" philosophy but one that would focus on doing, contributing and accomplishing. By adulthood, I think many people are resistant to change, it requires discipline and if you have low self-esteem, it's difficult to feel you can contribute to society or it will even matter, so taking that first step would require the support of someone to get them out.
