Very true. Really drove that home today as some wacko in the neighbourhood I work in who posted videos of himself murdering kittens has apparently moved on to posting a video of himself murdering a person! This sick attention seeking bastard mailed a hand and a foot from his victim to two of the federal political parties in Canada (this occured in Montreal). Just saying, it's a real serious red flag.
This must be the guy I've been hearing about on HLN, they know who he is, but can't locate him.
I think Jane Velasquez-Mitchell reported he dated the woman known as "Barbie", Karla Homolka, the Barbie and Ken serial murders, she was let off the hook for her involvement in exchange of testimony against her husband. Now remarried with 3 children...poor kids.
After some contemplation I decided theres nothing I can do about the sick freaks who torment animals for their sadistic pleasures...... All I can do is give my two dogs the best home they can have and love them.

What kind of people though, would abuse a helpless animal like a Dog? Why do they do this for no reason and feel no remorse or symppathy for the creature? Are they sociopathic?
My personal opinion is that people who abuse animals are very weak minded and pathetic people who likely have little control over any other aspect of their own lives, and then feel the need to "regain" their authority and power over something that is hopeless in defendng itself.
People who do this need to just die off the face of the earth. I know that is very harsh, but you didn't see the video I did and witness the horrifying ordeal that I did. Are these people beyond help?
You will get no argument from me on that. I have NO use for any human who treats an animal like that; tortured, abused, neglect...get rid of those humans.
Too many people view animals as only objects, something to use and then toss away. They are NOT accessories, they are NOT to be used to show off to your friends how cool or tough or bad ass you think you are, they are NOT toys, they are NOT impulse buys. They all poop, they all grow up out of their baby skin and face and size, they all speak a different language than you, they all make noise, they all like to play at 4 in the morning. Cats will sharpen their claws, give them something to use, and dogs will tear things up, spend more time with them, tire them out and give them something appropriate to chew on while you're gone.
Others view animals as beneath them and therefore, for our pleasure, amusement, entertainment, use, regardless of what happens to the animals to fulfill those things. (I'm looking at you Vick!)
My personal belief is that those who abuse animals have no empathy for anything and are not the type of people I want to be around. If they will abuse an animal so easily, they will abuse a human. They are not good people.
Edit: And you CAN do something. It's a slow, painful process but it's happening. More and more people are standing up to those who do this. The harsher the penalties and punishment for this, the better. So start working on that. Education is key. Show people WHY animals are more than just objects. If you meet someone who says they don't like animals or "it's just a dog", show them why that is not true. Learn as much about animals as you can: rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils, birds, cats, dogs, fish, snakes, horses, etc. Teach these idiots. It's a slow process because for many, it is ingrained. That's all they have ever known, "animals are beneath us". "Dogs belong outside, never in the house." "Cats will steal your breath." Correct these misinformations.
You CAN do something.

I have not yet done any research on my belief, but gonna throw it out here to see if anyone has.
I've heard that there's stats or research results to back up the claim that people that abuse animals do abuse humans later in life. I THINK...I read that some of history's killers were found to have had a history in their earlier lives of animal abuse.
Personally, I think it's satanic. No. I don't mean like church rituals to satan most of the time. I think the person is "not alone" inside themselves, and that there is literally a resident evil within them.
Some idiot was having a discussion not long ago, and I couldn't help but hear him say, "it's an animal-". OMG, I shot him the dirtiest look and removed myself from the area ... animals feel emotion and pain -
People who harm animals should face the same penalties as if it were a human.
I saw a puppy on Petfinders.com that had no tail- they said it had been ripped off in an abusive case, and turned over to a no-killer shelter. Now it has permanent bladder problems ... poor thing.
My personal experience is that people who abuse animals often also abuse humans. If they haven't already, it's usually just a matter of time before they do. Therefore, if I witness any animal abuse, I take that as a major red flag to stay out of their lives as much as possible.

Your post reminds me of when I used to be a rabbit breeder. I would breed rabbits and sell them as pets to people and local pet shops. I would NEVER sell to a mother and her child { which just happens to be the biggest part of that market ] because most of them knew nothing about the care a rabbit needs and surely the child would grow tired of it not long after the "easter bunny" made his appearence.

I couldn't agree more with this!! Give'em at least ten years to think about it in a tiny little prison sell. I agree with three wolves in snow that a lot of people seem to think animals are below us. The saddest part is, according to the law, they ARE!!! They are just viewed as property. Kidnapp a cherished family pet? Get about the same punishment you would as if you stole the families tv. Kidnapp their child? Get life in prison. Am I the only one who sees anything wrong with this comparison? Another problem is, most of this stuff happens when no one is around to see it, behind closed doors so to speak and the animal can't let anyone know it's going on.
I got to thinking about that video clip again today at work and I'll tell ya, it really weighs heavily on my mind. It makes me instantly depreesed, sad, and angry. I guess I'll just have to try and forget about it. How though? I don't know.
