I dont care about myself but I do not want to commit suicide. I have no friends, no job, no social life to call my own but for some reason not caring about myself is all that I can commit to my quintessential self. For some reason not caring about myself forces to to realize the possibilities of caring about a better tomorrow and a brighter inner self. What mental illness am I?

Maybe working with some underprivileged people might find you a reason to feel better about yourself as your contributing something from yourself.. a person you dont seem to like very much.. good luck.

Dysthymic Disorder 300.4 It's a nice way of saying you're slightly depressed/unhappy or hopeless without thoughts of death. I am pretty sure the helping profession will be closing up shop any day now. This world is about over. In a world where people have to be sick. Those diagnosing or treating individuals who do not feel well have failed this world.

In this day and age you are somewhat normal especially if you are a young person as they all seem to feel that sort of hopelessness. You might have a social disorder like Aspergers or a generalized anxiety disorder.

So I am less into tagging people with a lot of labels. But I would generally agree with the dysthymia, with a thinking process that is "hopeful".

I have recently had to look through a ton of therapy records for a legal case and of course there is a diagnosis, then there is information on present mood (euthymic, dysthymic, etc.), how someone is thinking (rational, irrational, tangential), how much insight someone has about their situation (appropriate, limited), etc.
