Face it. You will have haters, especially if you are working towards improving yourself. There will always be people that walk across your path for no other reason than to try to discourage you. This is an unfortunate, yet natural part of life. You just have to make sure that they have no VALID reason to hate.
Haters will always have a reason to hate. There is very little you can do about it other than to make sure that you are living as best as you can with all people. (key phrase, as best as you can) At the same time, you don't want to bend over backwards for approval. That always backfires.
Sometimes, the haters will have a valid reason to hate. Sometimes you might have to listen to your haters. You have to be honest with yourself too. If the critic does point out a valid reason for their campaign against you, then go ahead and fix it. However, criticism is rarely about the one being criticized, it is about the one being the critic.
Also, by letting the haters hate (ignoring them for the most part), you will start to gain more people on your side.
There may come a time when you actually have to address the haters. When you do so, do it in a calm and collected manner. Do not lose your cool. It is better if you do this once. If he is going to continue to "troll", then ignore him. (Don't feed the trolls).
A large part of a successful life is dependent on how much you can take.

not all haters ( as irrational as they are ) are easily dismissed , some are so zealous and self rightously dogmatic , they can seduce you into believing that you are wrong and they are right
happen to me and ive never forgiven myself for being so weak

I don't think it's weak...just part of our nature as humans to consider feedback from our peers...regardless of how unreasonable they are sometimes.

Ouch, those are the worst. I've dealt with those myself. I'd try to find a way to tell them to get a life. Some of these haters can become like stalkers. That's when it gets really scary.
I think there are different categories of haters. The subtle ones that are just jealous of your success or looks are harmless. Its only natural & happens even between close friends & family. If they are good people they will come to terms with it if you continue being nice to them. Eventually they will realize that they have something that the other person doesn't.
The haters that scare me the most are the natural haters who find any reason out of thin air to hate just anybody. Their focus is not the target of their hatred but the feeling of hate itself. They live to hate. STay away. They wont change no matter how good you are to them. Even their so called friends will eventually desert them.
When people live in a world filled with anger and blame and hate they can lose touch with reality. Don't you think?...They assume that everyone is out to "con" or "fool" or manipulate them. (Or "stab" them in the back!) So they have trouble trusting anyone...It's as if they "turn to stone" and shut down most of their feelings and their "reasoning" abilities as a form of self-protection... As an "insurance policy" to avoid ever being hurt or "fooled" again...I guess it's easy to recruit people like this into terrorist training camps or other "hate groups." (Even here in our own country.) Sad!...All they need is a "target" or a scapegoat. The hate and anger and blame is already "bubbling away" inside of them.
