Women forever whining about being overweight (woman, people)

I work with a couple of overweight women. For years now they have been complaining about how fat they are. The one woman must be 250 if not more.

She said something about her weight and I said well, why dont you do something about it then.

She then said, "Hey, your suppose to tell me that I dont need to lose weight and I look fine"

I said No, I'm not going to tell you that.

I dont care if they are overweight, just sick of hearing it.

So walk away or change the subject when one of them mentions it.

Anyone who constantly talks about one subject is annoying if you ask me. Whether that subject is being overweight or obsessively counting calories. That being said your response was rude. While you shouldn't be obligated to tell her she looks fine, there are more tactful things to say.

Don't engage.
Just smile and nod.
Most people are just venting, not looking for advice.
Acknowledge the thing, smile and nod, forget it.
Again they are not looking for advice; you'll just make yourself crazy assuming they are.

Good for you, OP. I hate when people complain about things that are within their power to change, like weight. Sure, I can see once or twice, but if someone does it over and over, I'll say something and I don't care if anyone thinks it's rude. I say things like, "Well if you're unhappy, do something about it." I'm not going to play their games and tell them what they want to hear. Or maybe I should start asking, "Are you looking for advice or are you just venting?"

You should do something about it then, was rude? No, NO. I didnt say your a fat pig, lose some weight...now that would of been rude.

I think wether it was rude or not depends on your tone of voice.

and it sounds to me, since you were so fed up, it might have been rude.

If you think it was (your decision), you might want to apologize for the tone but explain your viewpoint.
