Do you feel like you have purpose in this world? I'm sure most of us have a purpose if we're talking about procreation, but is there a goal that you have to accomplish before you die? I feel like I haven't found my purpose, and i'm 23 years old. I'm at that age where I should be entering my prime, but I have absolutely nothing going for me that makes me proud of myself. I completed my associates degree, and now i'm pursuing my bachelors in Business Administration. But, half the time I just feel blah, like even though I have an decent job and I'm going to school, nothing I do is ever enough for me.--Come to think of it-- I've felt this way for the majority of my life. Anyway, has anyone felt this way before?

I feel that way as well. I believe there's a lesson for me to learn, but I'm not quite sure what it is exactly.

I had this feeling when I was 19.
And looking around me my college friends were clearly clueless.
My conscious quest began.
We all have a missing piece inside us or a hole in our hearts.
This is the Philos. Section so I won't get into what I found....but I found it.
I know my exact reason for living, my existence and Man's.

Have fun on your search...seek and you'll find, you've already started, great!!

I'm 35 and only now starting to see some of my purpose. I think that a lot of purpose is learned in retrospect, and not necessarily something that you can see ahead of time. Don't worry... you'll get there!

A job well done and a business well run is *silent*!

It quietly hums along making no noise - no disturbance. Kind of boring it seems!

BUT that is QUITE an accomplishment in my book! To be able to do your job and run a business so things run smoothly is not an easy thing to do. Problems are taken care of before they blow up into big problems.

Sounds like that is what you are doing at work and with your education - and very good!

Perhaps if you read about some people who were not good managers, you will appreciate yourself a bit more. One is an ex-governor of Arizona Evan Mecham. He ticked off every minority and special interest group under the sun...

Remember, too, that your life purpose and your job are not synonymous. I mean, they might be, but many times, they're not.

Maybe your purpose isn't something you find. Maybe it's something you create.

For some reason I feel that in our day and age, 30 is the prime and 23 is too young... So wait a few years...

I do believe that in some cases, we are the ones who make our own purpose by getting involved and by doing the things we like doing (our calling, whatever we do best) instead of waiting for a purpose to come to us.

Many Americans have it ingrained in their head that we're intended to live to work, where as in many other cultures they work to live.

I believe some people have a purpose, but I am not sure I am one of them. I have learned a lot, and I can't fathom what the usefulness is of anything I have learned (what the greater meaning would be). I kind of believe I will "find out" when I die.

I think a lot of my purpose could have been performed by a monkey (such as raising a family, working, etc.) - nothing special at all - nothing mind-altering. I probably could have learned whatever I learned just as easily in one, very well-written book (if there was such a thing).

Maybe I will invent that.
