People who address ladies as "you guys" in public.not speaking of friends, but sales people, news people on TV etc.
The hostess at a very nice restaurant did that to my elderly mom and I last nite. And speaking of my mom..
over talkers that recite a novel to get to their point. Doesn't make the story more interesting.

ugh. When did this become common place? If I'm in a business and this happens I wish I had the
nerve to say....I AM NOT A GUY. Wouldn't it be easier by just saying hello?
There is one other thing that really irritates me is - those people on bikes who drive in the middle
of the lane (deliberately) on a busy street and don't care that they are causing traffic problems.

you know what I mean. Then comes the poster who will say something like " I never had that problem,
maybe you made some terrible choices, it's your fault, I'm so fortunate. Well, that's wonderful that people
are doing and feeling well but on those certain posts..... I think we should be a little more sensitive
and supportive rather than saying "I never had that problem," because it seems callous.
Not sure if this is the same or a similar type of situation but yours reminds me of it:

Sometimes, someone might be down on their luck or they legitimately have no idea what got them into a bad situation or how to solve it (despite thinking it through extensively.) So they post on CD asking for advice.

Then instead of getting advice or simple "I don't know" answers, responders assume they've made some poor decisions in the past which got them into the situation and say they're the ones responsible.

It's one thing if someone describes a problem they're having and someone points out the mistakes they've made and how they should own up to them.. I can understand that. However, it's different when the responders assume or imagine that the poster made certain poor decisions in the past and then say they must own up to those - and this irritates me tremendously.

It's a bit difficult describing what I'm trying to talk about but take a look at the following for an example (source: Cowell Student Health Center - Davis Wiki )

Quote:
I've generally had excellent doctors at Cowell, but last time I visited I saw a "pain specialist" who told me that my problems stemmed from the fact that I didn't understand that "everything happens for a reason." When I told him that I didn't believe that, he said, "Well, why do things happen then?" Yeah, you really got me there, doctor. - EllenWoodall

You are just angry you couldn't get a medical weed card. hehe -GeorgeLewis

It probably wasn't polite to address an elderly person as "you guy" but it is less offensive that the continual use of "you all" or "y'all" to address one or more persons, IMO.

But really, you guys, do these minor infractions bother you all that much? I mean, you could be bothered by global hunger or the shrinkage of the middle class. A lot of these "quirks" are really minor.

Don't head south if you don't like "Y'all" . It's as common as sweet tea.Doesnt bother me a bit.
I assumed the whole point of the OPs thread were " quirks" , minor irritants, not hunger and global warming, plenty of discussions on here for that. Geez, buzz kill

Meaningless repetitive physical motion - aka. twitching, fidgeting, etc. Finger tapping, body rocking, leg swinging, ankle rotating, foot jiggling. And by extension, drumming imagined ditties.

People who enjoy the type of electronic music that basically repeats itself over and over again.. and listen to it day in and day out (had known quite a few people like that back in my college dorms..)

People who ask nosy questions of an acquaintance or co-worker with a medical issue.

Women I work with do this. When they are done probing a co-worker for details of the medical issue, they then offer up amateur diagnoses and critiques of the medical treatment. I hate this

I also hate when my friends make snide comments in sotto voice about someone else nearby. This makes me so uncomfortable.
