I believe this was the background to the premise of a movie, The Purge, that came out this year. I didn't see the movie, but it's interesting to consider how society would react to a policy like that.

Personally, I can't see myself robbing a store or stabbing my ex boyfriend even if their were no legal repercussions. Laws are only created for the relatively few individuals who don't have the sense or principles to otherwise behave appropriately with the rest of society, and those individuals are the kind of people who'll go ahead and break the laws anyway.

Or maybe it'd work like a riot, where a few people behaving chaotically cause everyone else to behave chaotically in response.

Anyway, can see yourself ever doing something that's typically outlawed if it was temporarily legal? I mean, maybe if we still lived in the days of Prohibition I'd take the opportunity to get plastered with my friends, but that's about the extent of it for me.

I might buy some weed but that's probably about it.

Nyah, what would be the point? I don't have an ax to grind with anyone, I'm happy with my standard of living, but most importantly, I also believe in karma - and treating others like I want to be treated. Most laws are there to protect individuals and the general public anyway.

I believe I have accountability to God, not only that , He is my very best friend . I would not choose to do any thing that might hinder that relationship.
It is far to valuable to me to compromise, and for what ?
There is no greater reward, than to valued by your maker.

Frankly, I'd be hiding under the bed until the day was over.

LOL I know what you mean.

Actually, though, I'd pity the fool who tried to get all up in my bidness. Though I would hate to have to shoot someone, I think I could look at it as ridding the world of a pestilence.

Actually, that is basically what I think most people would do.

I would definitely commit a few crimes if it was legal for a day. First I would go a meet out some justice on those who deserve it and won't get it otherwise. Then I'd go scam some of the biggest banks and maybe some other scam-deserving companies, like Monsanto. Then I'd go live happily ever after with my scam money without an ounce of guilt in my heart.

On the way back from cutting off my ex wife's hands so she can't steal any longer, i'd probably run a couple of these swerve, duck and weave NASCAR wannabes off the road just for good measure.

The feeling of satisfaction from either, or both, would be pure nirvana.
