Sure, I think my opinions are important. I tend to only offer them when I believe I'm well-informed. While my opinions might not be highly valued by many, I think they should be, because I'm intelligent and my track record is excellent.
My opinion is important to the people who are close to me. Collectively speaking, opinions are influential, and it is those many voices who can change a society.....for better or for worse.
I think it works as a few voices influencing the masses. Online I've tried to be one of them for years. On one site, people gradually caught on to some of my points as more and more evidence arose and some things have since been accepted as facts and repeated by others.
Yes goodheathen, I would agree that a few voices can influence the masses.....there are many historical examples of that. And it can be rewarding when you make a point and others start to understand it and possibly change their viewpoint.
But it also works the other way as well. If large groups of people feel strongly about something, they will often organize and fight for a particular issue. (This happens a lot with political issues.)
So I would say that it works both ways.
