Gee, I don't know...Why would a woman rather read a romance novel if she has a ready and willing man?
Answer: Fantasy and reality are two different realms.
It's right up there with women wanting to be romanced like they see in movies or read in books. They expect a man to act like that man in the book. They want him to sweep her off her feet like that movie. It's like asking, why are movies like The Notebook or heck even Twilight so popular when those women have wonderful men at home? Because they like and want the fantasy and sometimes get disappointed that their man just ain't living up to Hollywood standards.
Men (and women) just want the fantasy of porn sometimes because no, their SO can't live up to The Valley's standard (aka porn central).

This has to be one of the biggest oxymoron's I've ever seen.
Why is it so surprising? Heck, he even has a porn block program on his computer for crying out loud! He even declined to go to hooters because of all the scantily clad women. Why is it so hard to believe a man can detest porn? He's a good man that only cares for my daughter and should have no reason for it, I don't care what anyone says, to me porn is one of the worst things ever and it's ridiculous how women should just accept that men watch it it's SO extremely degrading towards women and I can't believe there are women that not only accept it but will watch it themselves!
All I got to say is, if you are a woman that's okay with your man watching porn you don't have any right to complain about stuff other guys do. And my daughter has spent weeks staying at his place and has NEVER seen him watch it and she's gotten up all hours of the night, heck she even has a key to his place so she can come and go whenever and sometimes she'll go late at night after work and surprise him late at night and he's always just browsing gaming/car forums lol. They've been dating for over a year and between all the time she's stayed at his place and surprised night visits I'm certain if he looked at porn she'd have at least seen it once.
Maybe hate was not the right word but he has told her many a time that he views it as "filth" and has no need/desire to view it. But again, as I said he has a program on his comp that blocks porn sites (my daughter was using his PC to browse the web and accidentally clicked on a link to a porn site and it was blocked so she knows). He is completely open about everything. I find it incredibly sad that you (and others) have such a low opinion of men that they can't, 100% just not like porn or watch it. Now, he has said he has seen it in the past but it never did anything for him at all and he can't even be turned on by it. Guess you and others will say he's lying to?
Like I said, between all the time she stays over at his place and surprise visits and all the time she uses his comp (she has a crappy PC so uses his a lot) I am certain if he did she would know. It's one of the reasons I have told my daughter he is a keeper. Maybe he is quite literally 1 in a million, so what? It's still possible!
I think its weird that you, your daughter, and her bf talk about porn so much together.

^^This. One nice thing about the proliferation of internet porn is that much or even most of it is of the amateur or gonzo variety that just shows people doing what people do. Obviously they are still usually attractive, fit, and well-endowed, but they're not usually all painted up Pamela Anderson-style anymore.
Most of the porn I see these days looks pretty real to me. The people who say it isn't anything like real sex are either watching really crazy porn or have really tame sex lives.
