I don't know where you got the idea that people stop growing at 21. Women may get their growth early, but dudes can keep growing into their early 20's.

Most say that people stop growing until 21, when the deadline is 25.

Well, I basically raised self from age 5 (was very parentified by that age) so i guess since then. Had a mid-life type crisis at 25. Then felt old when married at 31.

I got stuck at my developmental level at around age 14 or so. Although an adult, I have almost no adult responsibilities. I still work the same near-minimum wage job I had straight out of high school.

You mean quarter-life crisis? You will live to 100 I had one of those too a few months ago. Most of it stems from seeing all of my Facebook 'friends' get married and have all these babies while I'm just in NYC doing my solo thing like

By age 31, I was in my 4th job -- but it was the first to feel like a progression in a career, which is maybe why the "adult" thing finally clicked. We had just bought our second house. We had moved a 10-hour drive away from any family -- another factor that probably made me feel like an "adult." Back then, long distance calls were too expensive to make more than a couple times a month. Imagine!! So suddenly we were very much on our own in terms of life decisions.
I think it was the loss of a family member that led to me growing up a bit. That was a few years ago, but that sort of made me realize that I have to be the adult here. It was the first major loss that I've had, other than pets, and it made me realize that the people in my life aren't always going to be here.

I enrolled in college, and am almost all the way through a degree. I also got my first job since 2008, and even though it is minimum wage, at least I'm earning money. I'm also saving money for the future, because I realize that spending everything I make has not served me well in the past.

I'm also looking at how my actions, today, will affect me tomorrow, and trying to plan my future.

I still have a childlike mindset at times, and like to have fun. But at the same time, I know when to be serious now.
