It can be enlightening and interesting to learn about others; however, before we get that far, we first need to know and understand ourselves.
Without a clue as to why, I chose the wrong man to marry. Needless to say it was a disaster and adversely affected me emotionally and physically. I spent too many years "trying" to understand who and what he was - and trying to 'fix' him and his problems.
Finally, thankfully, it dawned on me that what I should be doing was getting to know myself. . . to learn where I came from, who I was, and where I wanted to go. I discovered there were things in my past that were the catalyst for me being with the wrong man. Had I not taken these steps, there was a very high probability I would have ended up with another man just as bad, or worse.

And only an idiot would answer that question honestly!
You know the famous song: What we hate the most in others, we see so much of in ourselves!
