What? No I don't believe homosexuals can change. But please let's not bring gay people into this. I'm tired of seeing gay people discussed in pedo threads. Maybe because I grew up with too many ignorant hateful people who believed that all gay people were pedophiles.

I'm saying that I believe someone can make a mistake in their 20s, grow up and move on. Maybe they will change and maybe they won't. Just becuase a woman or man in their 20s sleeps with a teenager doesn't mean that they are going to be 30, 40 and 50 years old seeking out teens. That's ridiculous.

Now if a person is in their 30s or 40s sleeping with a teen? Well, that may be indicative of who they are. We can't really compare a 20 year old to a 40 year old.

However someone who goes after children, be it man or woman, that person is a pedophile and studies show that they don't change. The most you can get them to do is not act on their urges. But their urges will always be there. I mean, the studies have proven this. There isn't a lot to disagree on.

Do you really think people in their 30's and 40's who sleeps with children weren't attracted to them in their 20's? I would say that's highly unlikely.

When it comes to sleeping with underage minors, someone in their 20's should be able to rationalize not sleeping with a minor just like someone in their 40's. You do realize that people in their 20's are adult rights and make adult decisions?

oh boy you just aren't getting what I'm saying.

How old are you? Did you ever do stupid **** in your 20s, especially early 20s?
did you ever do something in your 20s that you would have never done in your 30s or 40s?

I'm saying that I think it's possible for a man or woman in their 20s, especially early to mid 20s, to sleep with someone in their later teens and then later regret it. And never do it again.

I do NOT think that people who are in their 30s or 40s sleeping with teenagers are going to change. Sadly this is who they are and I'd never trust someone like this regardless of whether they did time or not.

And true pedos? Forget it. They never change and can never, ever be trusted.

I do think female pedophiles are looked at as being as despicable as male pedophiles. It is female ephebophiles that get a slap on the wrist while their victims get a slap on the back.

No one looks at a woman who messes around with a 5 year old as anything but a pervert. When a woman messes around with a 15 or 16 year old, it is another story.

I agree. When I hear "pedophilia" I think about innocent little children, not teenagers.

Other than that, when it comes to sexual relationships, the male is more likely to be the instigator than the female. It's not always like that. Some women are more sexually aggressive than most men, but in most relationships, the men are the pursuers, and women are usually the ones that get pushed into it. Females, in general, tend to be more interested in relationships than sex.

So when you hear about a teenage boy with an older woman, there's a good chance that the teenage boy is the one that was pursuing; but when you hear about a teenage girl with an older man, there's a good chance that the older man was pushing the girl into sex. Without knowing the details, people make assumptions that the older man or teenage boy is the one that talked the teenage girl or older woman into sex.

I agree. A woman dates a young guy and she is a "cougar". A guy dates a younger girl and he is considered a creep. I realize that pedophilia involves young children, but the point is that there is definitely a double standard.

Just like if you see two guys kissing on TV it creates a scandal. If two women kiss on TV it is called "hot" and ratings soar. Remember when the first lesbian kiss was aired on TV? What happened with the ratings?

Let's not forget the fantasies about the "teacher and the student" male and female.

Britney Spears dressed like a "hot" high school girl.

Cameron Diaz in "Bad Teacher"

Media often portrays these things as "normal".

the amount of assumptions not based on any fact in this thread is astonishing.

P.S. No one was talking about older teens dating a 20 year old. Thats a very grey area, it wasn't being addressed. We were talking about 30/40/50 year olds sleeping with younger teens, 13/14/15
